Can you believe that we are getting very close to starting another school year? The summer is flying by.
I wanted to let you know of a few changes for 7th and 8th grade students enrolled with AzDL/SHSRC.
First, we will all be called Arizona Distance Learning (AzDL) now. As many of you know, SHSRC has merged with AzDL to become one program under the Sequoia Choice umbrella. This is a positive move and brings with it many possibilities and advantages. AzDL now consists of two programs; elementary (K-6) and Junior High/High School (7-12).
Second, 7th - 12th grade students will be using Sequoia Choice's online classes and have the support of the course teachers along with their advisors. This is a great program that makes sure each student receives all the courses and instruction needed for this age group. Electives are available through Sequoia Choice's educational partners. Students can also take advantage of dual enrollment and take electives or other courses through their local public school.
Your new advisor will be contacting you the first week of August to get started.
For AzDL's online program, please make sure you have high-speed internet. You will be using our school e-mail for much of the communication with teachers and to turn in assignments. Required attendance hours for Junior High students is 30 hours per week.

Sincerely,
