State Tax Credit

If you live in Arizona, you can lower your tax bill up to $200.00 - $400.00 when you donate to Arizona Distance Learning. Your donations will go to fund extracurricular activities, and you can choose which programs you would like to support.

State Law
Arizona tax law (ARS §43-1089.01) allows taxpayers to receive up to $200.00 ($400.00 per married couple) credit on their state taxes when they donate those funds to a public school. This is not just a tax deduction; it's a tax credit. The amount you contribute is subtracted directly from the amount of tax you owe—a dollar-for-dollar reduction.

Example: If you donate $200.00 to AzDL, your state taxes will be reduced by $200.00. Instead of paying the state, you contribute these funds to your child's school, and you get to specify how the money is used (see Your Donation below).

You do not need to have a student in Arizona Distance Learning to earn this credit. Grandparents, relatives, and friends can contribute to the school and reduce their taxes while helping AzDL students.

Your Donation
Those who donate can choose which extracurricular activities they would like to support. An "extracurricular activity" is defined as "any optional, noncredit, educational or recreational activity which supplements the educational program of the school, whether offered before, during, or after regular hours"
(ARS §15-342.24).

AzDL's Printable Tax Credit Form (link below) allows you to choose your favorite extracurricular activities. We encourage you to direct your money where you believe it will do the most good. Your options include:

  • Tutoring programs
  • Gifted and special needs enrichment
  • Athletics and sports
  • Educational field trips
  • Fine arts programs
  • Community education classes requiring a fee
  • Lending library (including books and resource curriculum, science kits and equipment, and computer/technology resources for checkout)
